Self Employment Resource Coordinator
Community Futures Centre West is seeking a Self Employment Resource Coordinator to contribute their skills and talents to our successful Self Employment Program. You will use your sound small business financial and operations knowledge and experience to assist our clients create solid business plans. You'll also participate in the business concept assessment of potential clients, implement training methodology and coordinate our regular self employment training sessions
This position is 2 days per week: Wednesdays in our Cochrane office and one other – negotiable. Your primary responsibility will be to meet with our entrepreneurial clients on a one-on-one basis to assist them with the business planning process. This position will appeal to someone with strong understanding of small business financial, an interest in helping first time entrepreneurs success and a flair for detail. Experience and understanding of the challenges facing first time entrepreneurs is an asset. Post secondary education in a relevant field (business, accounting, economic development) preferred. Some travel within our district may be required.

Community Futures Centre West is seeking an Economic Development Intern with fresh ideas to help guide economic growth and diversification in a rural setting. You are an individual who understands the important role collaboration, partnership and communication plays while working in a small community. You are a recent graduate (within 5 years) in business, economics, community development (or other related fields) and have prior experience in community or economic leadership.

Under the direction of the Community Futures Centre West Economic Development Coordinator and supported by the Town of Crossfield staff, the successful candidate will work on a number of initiatives in economic development. You must possess: excellent oral and written skills, the capacity to collaborate with stakeholders and the ability to form partnerships and build working relationships with business, industry and government.
You will be responsible for strengthening and developing strategies for facilitating the retention and growth of existing business and for attracting new business to the Town of Crossfield. This will be guided by the Crossfield Sustainability Plan, Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan (currently under development), the Calgary Metropolitan Plan and supporting bylaws, as well as specific Economic Development strategies.
This position is full time for an 18 month term. It will be located in Crossfield, Alberta, however, some time may be spent in the Community Futures Centre West office in Cochrane.
Candidates will have above average computer skills, hold a valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license, be willing to use their own vehicle for travel and have the capacity work some weekends and evenings.
